Newport Winery Social Outing

On Saturday, November 14th, the Southern New England Alumnae Chapter ventured into Rhode Island to the Newport Vineyards in Middletown, RI.

We had 11 sisters attend the event, where we were able to take a tour of the vineyard, sample their delicious wines and ciders and then spend the afternoon enjoying lunch and the farmer’s market. The Newport Vineyards is currently celebrating their 20th anniversary and it was very nice to see how they have expanded over the years.

Our sisters has a great time reconnecting. Some sisters had not seen each other in several years! The made the event even more special. We are excited to branch out our events into the southern New England area and not just in Massachusetts, but also into Rhode Island.

This past Sunday, the sisters from Bridgewater State University, Bentley, and Boston College were all able to come together to celebrate 141 years of Love, Labor, Learning and Loyalty. It is often that our daily lives get busy so it was wonderful to come together with fellow sisters to honor Helen M. Dodge, Frances E. Haven, E. Adeline Curtis and Mary A. Bingham. We were able to hear from two new members, a sophomore, a graduating senior and an advisor. Each sister gave a different outlook on what gamma phi means to them. It was heartwarming to hear how much this organization has touched each and every one of us. It is important to not only celebrate Gamma Phi on November 11 th but every day.

A special shootout to the Alumni Relations chairwomen for putting on a fabulous event. The room was decorated with pink carnations galore and the apple cider was delicious! We especially loved the photo booth with props for snapping memories for years to come.

It was great seeing everyone and don’t forgot about the Newport Winery Tour this Saturday!!
